Insta/Vent™ Plus lung ventilation system combines submicron particle generation with a patented aerosol delivery system.
We have met the challenge: to produce a maximum amount of particles under 1 micron, to avoid central airways deposition, and improve deposition in the alveoli for sharp, clear images. No clumping and no hot spots!
The Insta/Vent™ Plus System is a two tube system. The patient’s exhaled breath flows into the bottom second tube which is connected to a HEPA filter. The HEPA filter removes the radioactive particles and allows the clean air to return to the environment. While this is occurring the flow of oxygen continues through the nebulizer and fills the top tube. Additionally, a 1 Liter latex-free reservoir bag is attached to the system and aids in the collection of the new radioaerosol particles. When the patient takes his first breath the particles in the top tube are easily inhaled. No deep breathes are needed which could cause hot spots at the back of the throat. The patient continues to breathe normally and inhales new particles into the lungs and exhales into the HEPA filter. Our dosage recommendation is 40 mCi of Tc-99m-DTPA in a maximum volume of 2 mL. By using this 20 mCi/mL concentration the patient will receive a little more than 1 mCi of activity in 1 to 1.5 minutes and the technologist can generate a 100-150k count image in 1 minute.
The Insta/Vent™ Plus is now available for use with any patient, including children. This system offers the same outstanding image quality and even greater efficiency than the original single tube Insta/Vent™. The Insta/Vent™ Plus is available with the MP500 Safety Shield™ mouthpiece (“scuba style”) or with a face mask. Medi/Nuclear also manufactures a kit for Ventilator patients that fits into the Insta/Vent™ Radioaerosol Lead Shield. Please see the section on Ventilator Kits.
