Medi/Nuclear was founded in 1973. In 1977, production began on Xe-133 gas and the Xeno/Cal™ Xenon Calibrator. This was followed in 1979 with introduction of the Xenon/Master™ Patient Delivery System. In 1987, the Aero/Vent™ Radioaerosol Delivery System was introduced. Over the years the Aero/Vent™ has been improved to deliver ever smaller aerosol particles. The current model, the Aero/Vent™ Jr delivers fine particles, over 97% of which are less than 1 micron in size, resulting in excellent peripheral penetration without unwanted central deposits. This technical achievement has been accomplished through the efforts of Medi/Nuclear researchers and the clinical assistance of major medical centers.
Although the Insta/Vent™ has been a top seller, and is often thought of as “the best in the business,” in 2005 we decided to make it even better. We added a second breathing tube to it in order to almost totally eliminate the mechanical deadspace, minimize rebreathing and allow the breathing tube to be “primed” with radioaerosol during the patient’s exhalation phase. The Insta/Vent™ Plus has been a dramatic improvement in radioaerosol delivery enabling full patient dosing in 1 – 1.5 minutes, patient imaging in 1 minute and the industry’s highest image quality, all at the same price as the original Insta/Vent™.
